GENERAL
How long will it take for my furniture to arrive?
On top of furniture production time, long distance shipping times in North America generally range from 3 to 10 business days depending on distance and other details. You will be provided tracking once your furniture is ready for delivery. You can learn more on our shipping and delivery options resource page.
Are products in stock and ready to ship?
While our small wares are commonly stocked, all of our furniture is made-to-order just for you. We work on a first come first serve basis. Typical lead times are 8 - 12 weeks.
How do I ensure my furniture will fit through my door?
Before ordering your furniture be sure to make note and take dimensions of any uncommon doors, hallways, elevators and stairs your furniture will have to pass through to get into your space. If you provide us with that information we can accommodate your project to furniture to fit through these spaces. Union Wood Co does not solely take responsibility for furniture access, we rely on onsite partners to confirm this during the order process.
Do you ship to the US?
We 100% ship to the US. We offer both long distance curbside or white glove delivery. Please visit our Shipping & Freight page for an explanation of these services. Or shoot us a message if you have specific delivery instructions or need extra assistance.
Does the furniture come preassembled?
This depends on the piece of furniture and the size of the furniture. Most larger pieces require assembly by a furniture installer or skilled handyman.
What do I do if my furniture arrives damaged?
Thoroughly inspect your order before accepting your order. Take pictures of any damage or issues you find. Send those pictures and a description of the circumstance to sales@unionwoodco.com.
Do you have sales or promotions?
Because each piece of furniture is made to order, there’s no excess inventory to ‘blow out’. We focus on providing lifetime value with the high quality of every piece that’s built in our workshop.

Where is your furniture made?
Every piece of furniture is built in our Vancouver, BC, workshop. We have a small team of highly skilled woodworkers and craftspeople that make each piece by hand with the greatest attention to quality.
Where can I see your furniture?
Since we’re a direct-to-consumer-from-the-workshop business, not having a showroom or hiring sales staff means we keep costs in check. If you’re hesitating in making a furniture purchase online (we’ve been there), scroll through our Google reviews and consider ordering a wood sample to get a sense of the quality and colouration of the wood.
How do I maintain wood furniture?

Can I order wood samples?
You bet! You can get a better look at all of our natural wood options by ordering a sample here.
Do you use sustainable wood?
We construct our furniture using FSC certified wood. FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
Do you have any green initiatives?
Forest stewardship is important to us. A portion of all furniture sales goes towards growing Canadian forests. We’ve partnered with Blue Green Planet Partners to reforest areas affected by human activities.

How do I join the trade program?

What are the benefits to the Trade Program?
In addition to preferred pricing the benefit is that you will be collaborating directly with the design and production teams. As experts in design, construction, materials and all other aspects of furniture manufacturing. You’ll be in very good hands.
CUSTOM
How do I start a custom furniture order?

Do you provide drawing and other documents for design approval?
Upon receipt of your deposit, if your project requires customization we'll get to work producing a set of final shop drawings for your approval. Your project and lead time will not begin until you have signed off on these final shop drawings.

How long does it take to build custom furniture?
We produce furniture on a first-come-first-serve basis. Our typical lead time is 8-12 weeks but that can vary depending on your project scope, size, chain supply or other details.
Do you require a deposit for custom furniture?
After you approve pricing and the furniture design concept, we require a 50% deposit. Payment can be made by credit card (includes a service charge), cheque, wire or e-transfer.
What’s the difference between made-to-order furniture and custom furniture?
Great question. Made-to-order furniture originates from designs in our collection and is built after receiving the order. There’s no inventory of pre-built pieces or parts to assemble. It’s the opposite of mass production: each piece is made individually with a high level of care.
Custom furniture is bespoke—it’s especially designed to meet your specifications. The concept could be from a sketch or a small alteration to an existing design. The exciting part about custom furniture is being involved in the design and obtaining the perfect fit.
